Microsoft have a special right now for those who still have XP. Ditch your XP system and you can get up to $100 off the purchase of a new Tablet or Computer. Why is Microsoft doing this? The simple business answer is SALES. I covered in a post earlier this week dealing with XP and security how to keep XP secure so it will continue to run. After all, you know the old saying, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” Right now you may not have the money to necessarily spend on a new computer. There is also the question of the new interface. Microsoft has released the update to give you back functionality of a start button but from what I have seen it still takes some getting use to.
Personally, if your machine is still running well and you have a good anti-virus on it, just load SteadyState and your machine is locked in place and will run for quite sometime. Just make sure you are keeping your data backed up externally as hardware will be the biggest point of failure and you want to make sure you have data in case it is the hard the drive. It will be very costly to get that recovered if it fails and you have all your family photos on there and no backup.
