The Battle Continues – PC vs. MAC

Only because I am feeling a little like stirring the part to help get the week started lets continue with the Battle Royale between the PC and MAC.  Had a former student of mine that sent me this article on PC vs MAC.  It comes from USA Today and does a comparison of the latest PC’s and MAC’s and who wins.  I think this comparison is fair and they do talk about the pros and cons of both.  Of course, the winner is PC by a score 3 1/2 to 1 1/2.  And I do not believe anyone who is reasonable will argue in how they have compared the two and their findings.  There are two things that I think would change the outcome of this comparison.  First and one that will never happen as long as Apple has breath is a MAC Clone.  If manufacturers could offer the market a MAC clone, the price of MACs would drop and also the number available.  Second, and one that did not take off as hoped was the Linux OS based system.  Linux is free to download and install, but it is not for the novice user.  If/When Linux is easy to install and can support the majority of software used in business then you would see a considerable dent into both PC and MAC markets and alter the comparison results.

The one thing I would love to see when it comes to the PC vs MAC commercials is one for PC where it has the PC and MAC guys talking and from behind the MAC guy pop’s up a little head of the PC guy, like the idiot alien from “Men in Black 2.”  The PC guy would ask the MAC guy what that is and he would have to admit that they have support running virtual PC’s because they don’t have all the software available for PC.
