Most online fraud, phishing scams, identity theft, and rogue software (malware, spyware) usually have a common source, spoofed websites. If you get an e-mail that appears to be from your bank saying you need to verify your account information, a chain e-mail from a friend or family member that has you go to a website, or as is the case involving a family member of mine where I get an e-mail from then with a link saying check this out (and usually has misspellings as this one did); they redirect to a spoofed site and by the time you may recognize it you have become a victim. Microsoft Online Safety has some help in how to recognize/identify spoofed websites.
