Computer Security – Part 6

Which Browser is Best?  There are many who will argue for one browser or another and for the most part it is a user preference.  But which one is the safest is the question you should be asking?  I have used Internet Explorer (ver. 6, 7, 8), Firefox, Opera, Safari, Google Chrome, and Avant (only briefly).  The one browser that many will agree on results in more infections than others is Internet Explorer.  Version 8 has cut down significantly on being infected and/or attacked but not 100% safe, and you need to keep up with the updates.  I personally am not a fan of Firefox.  I have tried it and do not prefer it.  I have used Avant or Google Chrome very little so am unable to comment on either of these.  Opera and Safari are two of the best browsers I have found.

The one I have enjoyed the most is Opera.  Here is a link to a story about Opera use on the rise, particular with the mobile (phone version).  There have been a few compatibility with sites, but because of its rising popularity they are fewer and fewer, and when I have an issue I go directly to the site with IE because of the encryption IE does offer.

Safari is Apple’s preferred browser and they offer a PC version.  It and Opera are similar.  What is a plus with these browsers is very few pop-ups, if any.

To download Opera. –  To download Safari. –  To download Firefox.
